With garlic, onion, and spices, the beans become a flavorful base for bowls, tacos, or a cozy side dish. Make a batch on the weekend and you’ll be set up for easy meals all week.

Homemade black beans are hearty, flavorful, and easy to make. Slow-cooked with onion, cumin, and salt, they’re tender, versatile, and perfect for bowls, tacos, or burritos.

Equipment

  • 1 Slow Cooker

Ingredients
  

  • 1 lb beans black or pinto
  • 1/2 onion
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1 tbsp taco seasoning
  • 1/2 bouillon cube, chopped beef or chicken
  • 8 cup water sub broth for the bouillon and water

Instructions
 

  • Put all ingredients into the slow cooker. Cook on high for 4-6 hours stirring occasionally.
  • Strain slightly to eat. Store in the liquid in the fridge for 1 week or in the freezer for up to 3 months.
