Caramel Sauce

Homemade caramel sauce is the perfect topping for ice cream, cookies or a fun birthday cake. Easy to bring together in a few minutes and stores in the refrigerator nicely. We love having this on hand to elevate any simple dessert.

Caramel Sauce
This homemade caramel sauce is quick, easy and way better than store bought.
Equipment
- 1 medium saucepan
- 1 wooden spoon
Ingredients
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- ¼ cup water
- ¼ tsp lemon juice
- 4 tbsp butter
- ⅔ cup heavy cream
- ½ tsp course grain sea salt
Instructions
- Add sugar, water and lemon juice to a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook until sugar dissolves. Once the mixtures starts to bubble, set a timer for 8 minutes. After 8 minutes, watch closely for the color to turn medium amber color. This will take another 3-5 minutes.
- Once golden and before turning too dark, remove from heat. Add the butter and cream. Stir to combine fully. Add the salt.
- Allow to cool to room temperature before storing in a jar in the refrigerator.
